Our Mission
The Polish–American Center
A Bridge Between Nations
About the Center
The Polish–American Center is being established to strengthen and expand the ties between Poland and the United States through the promotion of history, culture, and the shared values that unite both nations. Inspired by the legacy of Tadeusz Kościuszko — a hero of freedom in both Poland and America — the Center will serve as a living symbol of friendship, understanding, and transatlantic cooperation.
It is envisioned as a true home for all Polish–American initiatives in southern Poland — a welcoming space for dialogue, creativity, and exchange. More than a place, the Center will become a vibrant transatlantic community, bringing together people, ideas, and institutions committed to strengthening the enduring friendship between Poland and the United States.

"Light for Independence"
"Light for Independence" is a symbolic light installation to be located on the Kościuszko Mound in Kraków, created to mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and to celebrate the deep friendship between Poland and the United States. Inspired by shared values of freedom, courage, and solidarity, the project aims to honor both nations' struggles for liberty and to commemorate the legacy of Tadeusz Kościuszko — a national hero of both peoples.
Visible across the city skyline, the light will shine only on key Polish and American dates and historic anniversaries, transforming the Mound into a beacon of transatlantic remembrance and unity. Launching in 2026, the project will debut during an international ceremony with the participation of distinguished guests from both Poland and the United States.
If successful, it will be the first installation of its kind in Poland, designed to symbolically connect the two nations through a powerful and contemporary visual language. Inspired by global tributes such as New York's "Tribute in Light," the project will transform light into a gesture of shared history, mutual respect, and Polish–American friendship.
By blending history, art, and diplomacy, the installation aims to become a living monument — one that connects the past with the present, and Kraków with the world. In moments of celebration or reflection, its light will rise toward the sky as a silent and powerful symbol of freedom and friendship.
